Some exciting news :)

I have some exciting news to share! It's a long chain to get to it, but here it goes:

Mr. An asked Jim to teach at another Primary School on Fuxin on a Saturday. Jim, unsure of what to teach young students, came to me. I gave him some suggestions. The teachers at the school invited him and the rest of us to dinner on Monday to see if we would like to teach at their school on the weekends as well. One teacher in particular, Maggie, was very nice to Jim. So I went to dinner on Monday, unsure of whether or not I wanted to teach on the weekend. I met Maggie, Lisa (who I just found out today is the one who started that school) and Mark, the leader of the middle school. They all spoke English very well and were very nice. I got to talking to Maggie and I told her that while I teach 3rd and 4th grade here, I most enjoy teaching kindergarten and preschool. She said she teaches English at a kindergarten/pre-k here in the mornings, and invited me to come with her the next morning! Talking further, I found out that it is a Montessori school!

The next morning, Maggie picks me up and her 3-year-old is so nervous around me because I'm the first foreigner she's ever seen in her life. She is so cute! I get to the school and it's amazing how I can instantly recognize the Montessori materials, set-up, and philosophy - half a world away! The school is exactly like a preschool in America (except for all the Chinese). The children are adorable. I watch/help Maggie teach the first class, and I teach the second the class. It was so much fun teaching the age that I am most passionate about! I tell Maggie that I loved being there and that I want to come again next week. She was so excited to here that. She usually goes in on Wednesday mornings, but this week she went on Tuesday because she had something to do today.

So the exciting news is that I will be teaching English to preschoolers and kindergartners every Wednesday morning from now on! I can't contain how happy I am :D
